Back To Work

 Me: "Alexa, play new notifications."

Alexa: "From Amazon shopping, you bought the book Amache. How many stars would you rate it?"

Amazon ratings. Someone, somewhere wrote recently that they won't even consider a book without dozens of ratings listed on Amazon. While I think that is unnecessarily restrictive - why wouldn't I - there are a number of realities that a writer works with. That is only one.

To recap - we had a pretty good year in 2023. 2,289 units of the seven works available to you were ordered. At least one of each work was downloaded, with the overwhelming winner being A Guardian's Promise. My most productive year.

Before anyone comments "Don't spend it all at once," the bulk of the orders came during a free book promotion I ran through Written Word Media. While I did not make a lot of money during the promo, it put two thousand copies of Guardian in readers' hands. It rose, however briefly, to number 2 within it's genre on Amazon. That's not nothing.

What has resulted is a burst of 5 Star ratings for Guardian. It would be awesome if those readers would post something to let others know that their rating is because of how fabulous the writing is, how compelling the plot, how they fell in love with Amy... Okay, try decaf, right?

I truly appreciate everyone who downloaded and read the book. It led (probably) to someone (on Kindle Unlimited, where I get paid by how many pages are read) starting A Miracle of Zeroes and Ones. Okay, so they didn't get far, but I'm going to give grace - maybe they'll get back to it now that the holiday season is behind us. Maybe they'll take that trip to the beach, fire up their Kindle and keep going.

It's a new year, time to get back to work.

You know I'm an author, right? You can buy my books on Amazon...right?
